Subject: Mother's Face: a poem
Mother's Face
A fetus cannot see its mother's face,
But it is nurtured well in her warmth and love.
Whether a fetus knows it or not,
Its life, mind and the very existence
Depend on its mother.
She is the sole source of
Its nutrition, growth and activities.
Its very being is nested in her.
During a period of quiescence,
It may hear her loving voice.
From the newborn child to an adult,
Motherhood is slowly expanded
From human mother to Mother Nature.
We cannot see the face of Mother Nature.
But, whether we are aware or not,
We too depend on her Natural Elements.
We too are vulnerable, but protected
In our little niche in Nature.
The Earth we stand on,
The water we drink, the food we eat,
The warmth of the Sun on our face,
And the infinite Universe we exist in.
All of these are constant reminders
Of our primal nurturing source.
Nature is also the source of our mind:
Our sensations, perceptions, emotions,
Knowledge, memories, language,
Inspirations and creativity.
Nature is the Mother of all our experience,
Conscious as well as subconscious.
We cannot see the Cosmic Face.
We cannot palpate the Milky Way.
But, if we stay still and silent,
And listen with our heart,
We may be able to hear her gentle voice,
Her spontaneous sound of silence.
We may also realize that
Our essential being is nested deeply
In Mother Nature and
We are ever guided by
Her wisdom and love.
Happy Mother's Day!!!
