{PBJFlorida} Systemic change: Adopting a Biocentric Viewpoint

Before you say, oh, this is environmental stuff,  let the environmentalists handle this -- this is fundamental to all of our diverse efforts at peace and justice.  The foundation of ALL of our work needs to shift. It is "where we come from" that needs to change.

We are not the center of life on earth.  Until we get that we are only one species among 8 million, we will keep sleepwalking to our destiny.

In support of the notion that what's trying to emerge now is deep transformational systemic change in each of us, David Suzuki writes,

"Environmentalism has failed. Over the past 50 years, environmentalists have succeeded in raising awareness, changing logging practices, stopping mega-dams and offshore drilling, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. But we were so focused on battling opponents and seeking public support that we failed to realize these battles reflect fundamentally different ways of seeing our place in the world. And it is our deep underlying worldview that determines the way we treat our surroundings."

We need to shift our cultural narrative; we need to adopt a new biocentric worldview; and we need to do it on a worldwide scale; and we've no time to lose.
