| | | | | | Project Description : Primary responsibilities are working with Bioinformatic and IT staff to automate and simplify the genomic analysis and data management life-cycle. This position will develop infrastructure (workflows, tools, databases, and applications) using open-source and custom developed applications to support genomics and bioinformatics research Experience with developing applications using Java/J2EE are required, Unix and Perl is highly desirable. Experience with clustered environments is desirable. The preferred candidate will have genomics domain expertise. Highly Required skills: Primary responsibilities include working as part of a team to provide application development and support for bioinformatics unit, including analysis, tooling and genomics infrastructure to *Build Database-backed web-applications that are deployed on the Amazon cloud. *Programming duties will include Java, J2EE and accessing relational databases systems. *Work with various technologies to develop software solutions as part of research infrastructure. *Produce documentation such as systems requirements, architectural designs, and plans Basic Qualifications: *Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, engineering or related field plus two years of experience. A combination of education and experience may be considered. *Excellent Java & J2EE skills *Experience in database management systems such as MS-SQL Server and MySQL is required. *Must possess experience in the following development frameworks: Tomcat, Google Web Toolkit (GWT), SmartGWT, Eucalyptus , Amazon EC2 and Web technologies *Knowledge of system design principles, software development methodologies, and computer programming *Knowledge of Systems Architecture Other Qualifications: *Experience in the following areas: gene expression, genotyping, DNA sequencing, pharmacogenomics, proteomics and cytogenetics. *Experience in Eclipse, Oracle, DB2, SQL, *NIX, shell scripting, molecular biology, proteomics technologies, JDBC *In addition, knowledge of bioinformatic applications and tools such as Illumina BeadStudio, BWA, Novoalign, GATK pipeline are preferred. *Proficiency in Unix and Linux *Scripting skills | | | | | | | | | |
