Overview
This position will work closely in a collaborative manner with other team members with a focus on innovating, investigating, and implementing key web technologies, including open source solutions, for the benefit and growth of our internal business customers and the company. This person will also actively participate in learning our Drupal CMS system, building client and server-side web pages, creating CMS templates, and developing web applications. This position is well suited to a self-starter, positive, and pleasant person who can handle multiple and changing priorities. Additional responsibilities includes assisting in supporting our various web servers and configuration, occasionally taking the development lead on various web projects, and ongoing research with the latest trends in the web and new digital media industries.
Responsibilities
- Review business requirements and project specifications to determine best development approach using latest web standards and technologies.
- Develop web pages and CMS templates meeting cross-browser compliance requirements and guaranteeing optimal page loading performance.
- Recommend and performs necessary user acceptance testing, QA, and load testing during development and deployment to ensure project expectations are met.
- Implement internal web sites and applications based on CMS and open source technologies.
- Review internal sites, applications, and web-related technologies to identify opportunities to implement better user experience and coding improvements.
- Perform regular research of the latest web industry and development trends for further review with team and potential implementation.
- Configure servers and install operating systems and software.
- Liaison with other server teams to ensure server development and configuration meet project requirements.
- Perform ongoing upgrades and security updates for open source solutions, as needed, to ensure optimal server performance.
- Research and recommend latest open source and new media technologies to offer the best cost efficiencies to the company.
- Introduce and prototype open source solutions and tools to management and business units for possible implementation.
- Work collaboratively in a team environment to generate new ideas, improved efficiencies, and sharing of knowledge.
- Ensure SOX, PCI, and PII compliance with all work and server related projects.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience.
- At least 3 years of experience in web development, including CMS, primarily using open source technologies and systems, including Linux, PHP, Apache, and MySQL.
- Solid experience in front-end web development utilizing HTML/HTML5, CSS2/CSS3, and Javascript.
- Strong knowledge of Javascript and related frameworks such as jQuery, MooTools, or Dojo.
- Exposure to portable device development (mobile, smartphones, tablets).
- Experience with .NET technologies a plus.
- Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.
- Self-starter with a strong attention to details and deadlines.

- This position is in a department that has adopted a 9/80 alternative workweek schedule.
